Damn, I cant even withstand the smell of 1 and look at this

Turned 15 Today :-)

Well, had a nice and quiet birthday.. There was Onam celebrations in the office, a nice feast and lots of foosball (to escape from the work, of course !)

Btw, my Blog turns 1 today as well…….

Hmm.. Clicked on “New Post” to write about what I have done in the last 3 months in HeyMath!, but since I have become more lazier :-) than ever, just giving the links.

I was waiting for the Master Blaster to raise his bat to the Heavens for the 79th time and he disappointed me !! This is the 3rd ton he is missing in 3 months, the last occasion being his first 99 ever in International Cricket !!

Update: “Hang on. According to The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, 42 is the answer to the ultimate question of life, the universe and everything. Surely two months isn’t long enough for solving such a mighty problem. It shows that the step from 0 to 41 is surely demanding but the one from 41 to 42 is gigantic. It’s a leap that our Sachin needs to take. Douglas Adams obviously saw it coming several decades earlier but when it does arrive, it deserves one heck of a celebration.” - Quoted from here

Wow !! I started blogging exactly 358 days back and expected blog hits to touch 3000 only by next week… Damn !! Nothing goes as expected !!

‘Overdose’ is an understatement - I saw only 3 colours in my tv today !! This is the first time I am spending time indoors on an Independence day; so I am not sure whether the media suddenly became too much patriotic or is it the usual media frenzy ?!?

But one news hit me hard. Outlook had listed some heroes and villains of Independent India and one guy in the list of villains does not make sense to me. It just does not make sense to list Azharruddin (yeah, our famous Cricket Captain of the 90’s) as a villain along with the Mahatma’s assassin and the killer politicians responsible for 1984 and 2002 !!! I am wondering whether match fixing is so much a crime as killing the Mahatma and massacring innocent civilians. No, not at all !!

And how did I celebrate my Independence ? Its 1700 hrs and already have slept, with a relaxed mind, for nearly 12 hours :-) Isnt that wonderful ?

60 Years of Independent India ! Is it of significance to us ? If yes, why and if not, again why ?

Yes, because we have achieved so much in these 60 years and must be proud of our achievements. No, because we have failed so much in these 60 years and must be ashamed of our failures.

Democracy - Good on paper, but 1975 is a blot and dont even ask about this D-word today - its pathetic !

Secularism - Again good on paper, 1984,1992-93,2002 made us hung our heads in shame.

Nuclear Capabilities - Being a fan of the Missile Man of India, I would never question that.

Sports - Brilliance in patches, but with little or no support available, our sportspersons have been doing pretty well !

    Industries - Not bad !

Poverty & Hunger - Exponential Function would lose the battle here !

Terrorism - Need to tell ?

Overall, we can’t just shout for a few days that its 60 years of Rising India (CNN-IBN is doing that for the past 2-3 months) and forget about it ! We need to remember those who shed their blood for keeping India safe through those tough times (47,62,65,71,99 — I wont be surprised if someone asks me what are these numbers !), those who are continuously being marginalized due to poverty etc, and those who can build a much stronger India !!

Me.1 : 70 hours in 6 days !
Me.2 : What ! You slept for so long ??
Me.1 : Not slept u crazy mind, I worked for so long !
Me.2 : Strange.. What made u sweat so much ?
Me.1 : Some sessions, single sign-on, a threadlocal and a static map :-)
Me.2 : Weird !
Me.1 : Ya, but I loved it ! They caused excitement and desperation alike !
Me.2 : Sure they will :) How did u end up fixing all those ?
Me.1 : With a great piece of advice from my colleague Ravishankar - “Check the code for static varables !”
Me.2 : So you did find a static variable causing weirdos ?
Me.1 : Yep !
Me.2 : Gr8 !

[Info: Me.1 is the developer and Me.2 his inner mind - Inspired by Tomcat clusters :-)]

With reference to this post, Aravind tells me that even campus placements are not exempted from the stupid attendance rules and thats the heights of Craziness !!! Do they expect people to sit for those stupid lectures than attend placements ? Sheer madness..
